August is traditionally holiday time and perhaps the general view is that business can get quieter. This is certainly not the case in my Prescents salon. Lots of lovely treatments are undertaken for ladies going on their holidays. The most popular has been Minx, Shellac and semi-permanent mascara. In our busy lives and the desire to have things that cause us minimum fuss and bother these three treatments mean you have perfect, chip free finger and toe nails and no need to apply mascara daily. All the more time to enjoy yourself. The mascara is totally waterproof and non-irritating so once applied and dried, nothing else required. There are not many places supplying this product yet but I am sure that will soon change. I have been reading the opinions on the beauty forums and there certainly is a mixed bag. Some say it dries to quickly, others mention it clumps too much on the lashes and there is still the debate as to whether the bonding agent is actually the same product as the lash extension adhesive? I have not managed to find the answers to all of these questions but am enjoying practising my new skill on many clients. It is tricky to get the right mix ratio and care has to be taken to avoid over-application. Practice makes perfect! I would also recommend you patch test your clients before application.
Already I am planning the Autumn and Winter offers and Christmas gifts. I have booked in our festive Open day and find this a good time to look back at your retail sales for the year to note the best-sellers. I find using popular items in special promotions works really well at increasing overall revenue. I am just finding it a little difficult to look at Snowmen etc when I have not had my summer holiday yet. On a serious note it is worthwhile having an advertising and promotional campaign regardless of the size of your business. A few hours spent on a quiet day (if you have any?) can reap you lots of time later.
May I say a huge Thank you to everyone who voted for me as I was officially named 2011 “Lecturer of the Year” by the Guild. I am sincerely grateful that you took the time to vote.
