Cottage Beauty Blog

Communication is such a wonderful thing and it is good business sense to use as much as possible to attract new people but I always seem to have a pending pile!  As much as I diairise and write lists of “jobs to do”  I never seem to get to the end of the list.

Anyway no more moaning, it is good to be busy. On that note I must congratulate the many students who have tackled the fiddly task of learning how to apply semi-permanent lash extensions. This is still a hot therapy at the moment and takes time and patience to master well. I was slightly distressed to have to purchase a pair of glasses that gave me extra magnification just for this treatment! Hopefully not too much to do with the ageing process. I do enjoy applying the lashes as I find that I “zone out” while doing them. No need to think about other things and it is not physically demanding.

On a serious note I would strongly recommend patch testing clients before you apply the lashes.

I recently spent a nice day in Exmouth training the girls at the Serenity salon. It was very tempting  to book into a little B&B and stroll along the beach as it is such a pretty seaside town.

Good news on the insurance front for students studying beauty, massage and holistic therapies at the moment. FHT have announced  special insurance cover for unsupervised case study and assignment work which will really help many of my students as they do a lot of practice on friends and family.  It is always easy to assume that a friend or family member would not sue you but I would always recommend insurance cover is put in place as you will feel a) more professional b) more confident c) less worried if something goes wrong.

August is a very busy month for me. Unlike the FE colleges I do not close during the year nor have traditional term times so the holiday season is one of my most busy.  As Autumn approaches enrolments and enquiries for September onwards quickly fill up the courses for the remainder of the year. I will shortly be releasing my timetable for early 2011. It certainly makes the year fly by.

New formats for accredited qualifications were  introduced on  August 1st and I hope to have more information re the changes and content shortly.

The “Prescents” salon is thriving and the last few months have certainly seen our advertising pay off. Persistence is the key. It is good to see how many people now book appointments through the website, the trick is to keep it updated!

I hope you are enjoying the holiday season and my blog?
